I am here!
I got into Ukraine on Sunday at 2:00 met by a man that spead me past the long line of people in customs. I felt like a movie star!I have been set up in the home of a person that is helping connect me with the appropriate people. She has been wonderful. I am very fortunate. This is not normal for people that are adopting. I have been taken in and treated as if I was family...better than family. I forget I am here to adopt a child. This has already been such a memorable experience. You can't really understand the culture of a different country until you are taken into the home of a national.
Kiev is a typical European city that is fast pace with all kinds of ancient history. The women really dress up to go out. I was taken through the city by a young man that was hired to be my translator. He was a typical 20 something person that doesn't know much history. He even thought Czech used to be part of the Soviet Union. I shared with him that was not the case...
My appointment at the adoption center ("NAC") is today at 2:30 or 4:30 a.m. California time. I met with a gentlemen who will be accompanying me to the center this evening and he told me to be patient...we all know that isn't the easiest thing for me to do. However, I am looking forward to doing some more sight seeing and shopping. Lots of top fashion stores...
Goodbye for now!
